We're Adopting!

Welcome to our adoption blog!
We hope that this blog will help you to get to know us and answer some of your questions you may have. We are thrilled to be adopting and look forward to being parents! We are happy to be approved to adopt through LDS Family Services. We have enjoyed going through the approval process because we were able to attend classes where we have learned so much about adoption and how much of a miracle it is. We have a great love and respect for birth parents and we would love to get to know you! Please look through our blog and let us know if you would like to get to know us better. You can email us at mikeandkira@yahoo.com.

Why Adoption?

We have always been very excited to be parents and have a family. After trying to have a baby with no success, the doctors found that we are not able to start a family on our own. After a lot of prayer, we are happy to know that adoption is the right choice for us, and that we will be able to have a family with the help of someone else.

How we Met

We met in September of 2005 while bowling up at Weber State University. We had a good connection as friends and were together practically every day. Both of us started having feelings for each other around the same time, but waited for about a month before we started dating. We lived about a half an hour away from each other, but this did not stop us from seeing each other every day while dating! Mike proposed to Kira in May of 2006 on a Wednesday afternoon when Kira was least expecting it! He proposed under a gazebo with 12 tulips, all red but one was yellow (Kira's favorite color). He made a special photo album full of fun pictures of the two of us together with cute little comments typed up on each picture. The last picture was a picture of the gazebo we were sitting in right then! The label said "This is where I asked you to marry me! Look inside the yellow tulip." Kira looked inside the tulip and there was her engagement ring. He got on his knee and asked for Kira to marry him and told her how much he loved her. It was one of the best days of our lives together.
We were married in the Salt Lake City temple for eternity in August of 2006. We love being married and look forward to many more years together!

About one Another

What Mike has to say about Kira:
Kira is such an amazing woman. I feel so blessed to have met someone with such a great personality. She does such nice things for me like Valentine’s Day last year; she set up a picnic for us in our front living room to surprise me when I got home from work. She set up pictures of us all around and made me a great dinner! I would tell my friends when we were dating that I could always be myself around her because I can be silly, serious or laid back around her. The thing I love most about Kira is how considerate and thoughtful she is to everyone she meets. There is not a day that goes by that Kira does not think of ways to help people or how to become better friends with those around us. For example, she washes dishes at the temple to volunteer and she babysits for friends at least once or twice a week. I am so happy to come home from a long day at work and see her great big smile. Kira has a way of making those around her happier. Kira makes me laugh all the time! Something she does that is so hilarious is every morning she will wake up and tell me about her dreams. Sometimes these dreams can be so funny, she has a huge imagination. One morning she woke up and told me she was playing basketball all night on the Utah Jazz team in her dream. It was so funny because Kira doesn’t know how to play basketball at all! I love her so much. Kira serves in the young women’s presidency where she is able to teach and set a great example. Kira is a very dedicated person and always strives to obtain her goals; she never gives up.
What Kira has to say about Mike:
Mike is just the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. I fell in love with his smile, kindness, concern for others and thoughtfulness. Something that Mike does for me to show that he loves me is that he writes me cute little notes and surprises me with them. One day I got the mail when I came home from work, and there was a letter to me from him! He knows that I love getting mail, so he sent me a nice thank you card where he expressed his thanks to me for all I do. I still have that card hanging on the mirror in our room. He tells me so many times every day that he loves me, and I appreciate that so much. He has always been such a hard worker throughout his life. He has had a job since he was twelve years old, and only took a break from working in order to serve a full time LDS mission in Germany and Austria. He had a paper route since he was young and his first job was cutting asparagus with his best friend in a field! He is so smart it amazes me. We would always receive honorable recognitions in the mail from the University after every semester to show that he made the honor roll, yet again! While Mike is very responsible and smart, he is also absolutely hilarious! He makes me laugh so hard and we really enjoy having a sense of humor to share together. One way that Mike makes me laugh is when he makes up his own lyrics to songs. If he wants to sing a song and doesn’t know the lyrics, he doesn’t care; he just puts in words he wants! Sometimes it can get pretty funny! Mike loves to watch football and really any sport for that matter. He likes to be active and play basketball with friends or family. He is the assistant financial clerk in our ward and works so hard and so many hours to fulfill his calling. I’m so proud of my husband Mike and love him so much.

Religion

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Both of us have been members all our lives and were raised with strong morals and values. Mike serves in our church as an Assistant Clerk over Finances. Mike likes this calling because it deals with what he does for a living, accounting! Kira works with the youth in the Young Womens program which includes teaching lessons to girls ages 12-18 on Sundays as well as planning and participating in activities with them once a week. Kira loves these girls and feels blessed that she was called into this calling so she can see a bit of what it must feel like to be a mother.
We enjoy our membership in our religion and trust in our Heavenly Father that he will continue to bless us in our lives.

Employment and Education

Mike:
Mike is attending Weber State University until he receives his Bachelors Degree in Accounting April of 2009. He will be pursuing a Masters Degree in the future. He enjoys working with numbers, so accounting is a perfect profession for him! He currently is employeed working on tax returns for the tax season. As soon as the tax season is over, he will work full time in an accounting position.

Kira:
Kira attended Brigham Young University her Freshman year of college. She then transferred to Weber State University her Sophomore year and received her Associates Degree of Science. Kira works as an insurance specialist for a local insurance agency. She enjoys her job, but is looking forward to the day that she will be a Full Time MOM!
